New products
The stocks held, by this time, had grown to a level of in excess of £100,000. Over 5,000 different product lines were now being kept in stock. Turnover was now approaching approximately £750,000 per year. Investment continued as R.A.E .S. were always looking for new product lines that would compliment the existing range. Staffing levels had also risen due to increased demand.
Our higher level of stockholding enhanced the quality of service given to existing as well as new customers that the company were attracting. Our reputation was built on word of mouth and recommendation. Hence the growth continued to an extent of outgrowing the new purpose built premises inside 4 years of the company moving into them.
Final move
Our last move came in May 2003, still in Derby on Alfreton Road, about 1/3 of a mile from our first unit. Growth has continued yet again with staffing levels increased to 15 with a turnover of in excess of 1.25 million pounds and over 800 live spending accounts.
R.A.E.S. celebrated its 10th anniversary in August 2005 with an open day to all customers, having almost 30 of its suppliers supporting the event with stands and extra special offers on the day. The highlight being a live demonstration of a car being cut completely in two straight down the middle in a time of 45 seconds with the latest technology of a blade that fits in a common power tool.
In March 2006, Paul Booth, after 10 years with the Company retired to pastures new in Spain leaving a well structured team to continue the good work.
R.A.E.S. as a company is still hungry to succeed in becoming Derby's No.1in the supply of its products and will not rest on being second best.
